DesignHer Living covered all things design on this week’s radio show from home to fashion to life.  My guests blew me away with not only their expertise and knowledge but also their hearts.  Most often in choosing my guests I not only try to choose people who I think are doing interesting or inspiring things in their fields but who also have a similar heart to mine when it comes to doing their life work.
This show did that beautifully and right from the start.  My first guest, Bobby McAlpine, is a renowned architect who designed his first house in the 7th grade for the richest woman in his home town!  Now, I have a 7th grader and I can’t imagine anyone paying him a cent for anything except for maybe cleaning out the garage. Bobby ‘quietly’ and humbly shared his heart (my body was so tense trying to hear his soft spoken answers that I was sweating on the microphone) with me about how he could not not do what he does because it is a part of his whole being.   His book, ‘A Home Within Us’ has touched countless readers hearts too as it just came off the press in May on Amazon and it’s already sold out.  More copies will be available in August.  This book is the 3rd highest selling  book on architecture and design.  I will be sure and let you know when it is available again.  Until then get to know Bobby’s heart first by listening to the interview below.
My second guest had me relaxed and laughing in no time.  Kim Johnson Gross is a style fashionista  after my own heart.  This former cover girl has not relied on her looks alone to leave her mark on the world of fashion.  No, she is a women blessed with beauty and a brain and the where with all to go do it and she has!  She is Co-Creator of the world wide series, Chic Simple.  This series of books  ring simplicity and style into one’s life.  Her latest book, ‘What to Wear for the Rest of Your Life’ examines critical shifts that women experience at various stages in their lives.  And how often times, those shifts show up in your closet.  This was a fun and informative interview.  Listen and be inspired to make every day a reason to get dressed for YOU!
And last, but not least, Charla Muller, joins me behind the mike for two segments with a subject that will get you thinking about birthday gifts a little differently.  Charla shares girlfriend style with me on how she chose to give her husband for his 40th birthday a gift that couldn’t be returned or shared with anyone else but her.  ‘365 Nights of Intimacy~ A Memoir’ first started out as a personal birthday present to her hubby but then hit such a nerve that she decided to share her birthday gift in written form so that others might learn the importance and specialness that can be created when intentional choices are made and intentional gifts are given.
